Lush Shampoo Bars

A shampoo bar was one of the first items I ever bought from Lush (Seanik I believe). At the time I wasn't really too fussed by it but I recently decided to try the bars again and now I have a little collection of three!

New - This cinnamon and clove scented bar (which is what drew me to it - it smells amazing) aims to promote healthy hair by stimulating your scalp and boosting blood flow to the hair follicle.  It lathers up really nicely and my hair always feels clean after I've used it. Unfortunately though, the smell doesn't linger for very long in my hair which I wish it did.

Squeaky Green - With more of a herbal scent to it this one contains 'invigorating' cleansing herbs and essential oils to again stimulate your scalp and promote hair growth. I find the dried herbs in this one, that you can see in the picture, really snag and pull on my hair when I'm using it which is a bit annoying. I'm hoping they might soften over time/use.

Lullaby - This one has a really strong lavender scent, which I love but it again doesn't seem to transfer onto my hair. I really wish they did because these bars all have lovely scents. Lullaby also lathers nicely and it seemed to rinse out of my hair much easier than the other two.

You can use the bars by rubbing them in your hands first or just straight onto wet hair, which is what I do. Lush claim that they should last between 60-80 washes. I have found that after quite a few uses they haven't really changed much in size but I haven't completely finished one yet so I can't really comment on that! I don't really see much difference between the three (besides smell of course) and I don't feel they give my hair the same softness that a regular shampoo does but I do really like them.

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque

I know what you're thinking "Not another Macadamia natural oil deep repair masque review", but I just had to! It's not often I spend a little extra on a product and say to myself that it is actually worth the money but with this I do.. Every single time I use it. It is expensive at £26.95 in the UK and $33 in the States but if, like me, you have really dry hair then this is going to become your new best friend.

I'd been tempted to by this for a long time but was always put off by the price. A friend of mine then made plans to come to the UK for the summer from America and I knew I had to ask them to bring some of this with them since it works out a little cheaper over there. I tried to make an order for it at Ulta.com but for some reason the order wouldn't go though. So I popped over to the Target website to find they were being sold by one get one free, making them around only $16 each!

It recommends you apply this to wet hair and leave it on for around 7 minutes but I've been putting it on before I get in the bath and then rinsing it out once I'm done which is usually anywhere from 15-30 minutes later. It leaves your hair not only smelling amazing but so super soft too. I have pretty long hair and a couple of days ago in the car, I just loved how soft it felt against my neck and shoulders which is something I don't think I've ever noticed before.

I really cant explain how much I love this masque or recommend it enough. It makes me eager to try out some of the other products in the line like the shampoo.

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil shampoo

I was excited to try this shampoo after liking the conditioner and at first I liked it but after using it a few more times, I was pretty disappointed. I noticed my hair felt weird and almost powdery which lead me to think maybe I hadn't rinsed the shampoo out properly and made note to myself to make sure I rinsed well the next time I used this to wash my hair but found the same thing happened again. After the third wash with no change, I decided not to use this shampoo anymore. It felt like the product had built up and was in still in my hair making it hard to run my fingers through it or style and generally just did not feel very nice definitely not smooth or silky like the bottle claims! I couldn't wait to wash my hair again with a shampoo I know works well to get it all out. I was pretty disappointed and so glad I didn't buy the big huge version of this! One positive about this product though is the amount you get even though it's a mini size - perfect for a two week holiday or travelling if you like the Organix range.

Have you used this shampoo? Did you like it?

Review: Tangle Teezer dupe by Primark

I am someone who has very thick, naturally curly hair which is prone to tangles, so when I first heard about the Tangle Teezer I was very tempted to try it but with a £10-£12 price tag I didn't actually ever pick one up. Then I heard that Primark were doing their own version of the egg shaped brush for a steal at £1.50, so I was delighted when I spotted them whilst out shopping and grabbed one for myself to try.

I wasn't really expecting much from it because like I said, my hair can be very knotty (especially after it's been washed) and I didn't expect this to be any different from other brushes I've tried in the past. I first used it when my hair was wet and was really surprised at how smoothly it brushed through my hair and tackled all the tangles and knots and was even more surprised that it didn't hurt - at all!

I then tried it again when my hair was dry and this was where it didn't work so well for me. It was still getting rid of the tangles but I felt like because the bristles are so short it was only brushing through the top layer of my hair and not reaching through to the bottom parts. If I separate my hair into smaller sections it works well but not if I literally just brush it through my hair like I had done while it my hair wet.

I'm pleased I got this to try out and I'm very pleased with the way it brushes through my hair when it's wet but I think that will probably be the only time I really use it. At £1.50 though, I'm really not complaining. If you have thin or short hair, I think this would work a lot better for you.
